At the heart of Te Awhi Rito is aroha and manaaki—ensuring māmā and their pēpi are held with care and dignity. We are dedicated to walking alongside māmā and pēpi in their homes through hapūtanga and the first three years of pēpi’s life. We offer advocacy, cultural connection and personalised support, alongside a warm, whānau-centred hub for antenatal and postnatal learning. Grounded in Māori ways of knowing and being, we honour traditional practices around hapūtanga, birth, and raising tamariki, while connecting māmā, pēpi and whānau to the wraparound support they deserve.
ADVOCACY
We support māmā and whānau to navigate systems with confidence. Whether it's accessing healthcare, housing, financial support, or early childhood services, we stand alongside whānau ensuring their needs are heard and met.
CULTURAL CONNECTION
We honour and nurture cultural identity as a source of strength for māmā and pēpi. Our service creates space for reconnection, healing, and belonging through Māori values and practices, including pūrakau, tikanga and te reo Māori.
PERSONALISED SUPPORT
Every whānau is unique. We offer tailored in home support that reflects each māmā’s journey, including a whānau plan co-designed to meet their needs, and aspirations—ensuring they are supported every step of the way.
WHĀNAU HUB
Our whānau hub is a safe, welcoming space to rest, connect, and be cared for. Whānau can access wraparound support, antenatal/postnatal education, cultural wellness practices, and wānanga on hāpūtanga, birth, and parenting.
