 TUKUA KIA RERE
OUR STORY

Rongo Mauri is a whānau wellbeing hub that was established at Camberley School in 2018 as a response to support needed within our Camberley Community. Our unique way of supporting rangatahi and whānau has since had a ripple-out effect within the community where we have become a hub providing services now for community members across Hawkes Bay. In 2023 The Rongo Mauri Trust established a Rangatahi Service in the Feilding & Manawatū area supporting youth with re-integrating back into education, study, and work. We are providing a wrap-around service for rangatahi that is potential focussed.

Rongo Mauri provides wrap-around support for rangatahi, whānau and the community. Indigenous practice is central for us, we intentionally use tupuna knowledge and share pūrākau (cultural narratives) to support whānau to unpack the layers of presenting challenges.  Our indigenous ways of knowing and being are more than just a framework.  They activate, model, and reconnect whānau back to their identity and support a pathway focussed on potential. Our cultural narratives gently but powerfully address intergenerational trauma.

Rongo Mauri now delivers CIS (Counselling in Schools) to local schools and has now become the wrap-around service for those schools and school communities. We work alongside agencies supporting youth at risk providing education opportunities and advocacy.

Rongo Mauri Trust is a whānau centered kaupapa that focuses on building whānau capability and capacity across our whānau, hāpū, iwi, and hāpori.
